Over the weekend, we went to Mt. Fuji, climbed the top, climbed down and came back home! It was a long trip, but we had a lot of fun and got some really nice pictures. I’ll just give you a brief overview of what we did.
We woke up early on Saturday morning (5:30am), and I worked out as usual and Yukari showered. We had breakfast and Yukari’s dad drove us to a train station on Gotenba-Sen at 7:45am. We then took the train to Gotenba Station and transferred to a bus there. After riding on the bus for an hour we arrived at Kawaguchiko Station. Then, we had to take another bus to the 5th station on Mt. Fuji. That was already 2,300 meters, out of the 3,776 meters that is Mt. Fuji. We got some food, a walking stick and started climbing around 12:30pm. We had a few breaks along the way and arrived at the 8th station around 4pm. We spent the night at the highest hut there, so we could get some sleep and be close to the top. The altitude was 3,400 meters. Inside there were many people, so it felt like even less oxygen than outside and I started to get a headache. I think I got like 3 hours of sleep, while Yukari got nearly 6 or 7 hours! We woke up at 1:30am and got breakfast and then headed to the top! It was soooooo busy though. If possible, I would recommend climbing Mt. Fuji on a weekday. We were worried if we would make it to the top in time for sunrise (5:20am), but we made a run at the end and got up there in time! Anyways check out the pictures, there is a really nice panoramic picture at the end, make sure to see that one! I’ll also be putting some videos up soon, so check back in a day or two.
