I have always been a fan of The Simpsons, and have watched most of the episodes many of times. Recently though (Recently? 7 years ago…) the stories weren’t as fun as before, but I kept watching them. Sometimes, I would watch an episode, and it sucked, but I would still try to enjoy it because, after all, it was THE SIMPSONS!. I have only watched up to halfway of Season 18. But a few months ago, I heard the news about The Simpsons Movie and was quite excited. For years, there have been rumours of a movie, but nothing was ever official until this year. I know that by the time I’m writing this that it is out in the theaters in the US. But, what made me write this post was seeing that it will be in Japan! The Simpsons aren’t very popular in Japan, some people know of them, but most don’t it seems. They don’t show them on the free TV, but maybe on the ones you have to pay money for (BS1, SkyPerfect, etc). But the catch is that it will be released on March 1st, 2008. I really want to see this in the theater, but I don’t know if I can wait. So, if you have seen it, don’t tell me anything about it!
I loved this blog: It’s very interesting!
I knew that the simpsons are not as popular in japan as they are in America, but….why march 2008? Dubbing is complicated, maybe? Adapting jokes to the japanese market?
I’m not going tho tell you anything about the plot, but when i watched it, I felt that it was as one of the best chapters from the old seasons. Gag after gag, i couldn’t stop laughing!
Thanks for the comment. I’m not sure why it won’t be released until 2008. Japan is the only country in the world that will start playing The Simpsons in the year 2008. So, it sounds like some other reason. School starts in April, so maybe they wanted to release it while everyone was on vacation. Other than that I can’t think of a good reason to wait that long. It will be interesting to see how they translate all the jokes though!
And glad to hear that it was such a good movie, I haven’t even looked at a review yet. But only a little less than 7 months to go.
