January 15th is Coming-of-Age Day which honors young people who have reached the age of 20 as new members of society. This was established as a national holiday after WWII. Local governments hold Coming-of Age ceremonies to which young people are invited. Many young women attend those wearing beautiful long-sleeved Kimonos. In Japan, from the age of 20 onwards, people have the right to vote, drink alcohol and smoke cigarettes. From the year 2000, the government changed this holiday to the second Monday of January so that people can have a 3-day weekend. Here are the Coming of Age Day pictures! Enjoy seeing Yukari in her beautiful pink kimono!
Hey guys, great photos. That kimono is awesome, it’s such a beautiful pattern. And it looks great on you Yukari!
I hope you had a great day

Superb photos Yukari, or should I be thanking Jon for taking them?
I know the kimono is only one of many icons seen in japanese culture but this national feature seems to suit you to a tee.
I love the fabric and the choice of colour! In english the word ‘pink’ originally came from a dutch word ‘pinck’ which referred to the meaning small and then was used for the english meaning ‘pinkie’ as in little finger. This then got turned into the word PINK which then reffered to a particular type of flower which is not surprisingly pink and has many distictive properties such as being asemetrical etc etc.
ANYWAY what iam trying to say in a round about way is that you chose well with the colour pink. It represents symmetry, grace, poise and dignity. All qualities that you reproduce clearly with your new outfit!
best wishes,
Joshua
