January 15th is Coming-of-Age Day which honors young people who have reached the age of 20 as new members of society. This was established as a national holiday after WWII. Local governments hold Coming-of Age ceremonies to which young people are invited. Many young women attend those wearing beautiful long-sleeved Kimonos. In Japan, from the age of 20 onwards, people have the right to vote, drink alcohol and smoke cigarettes. From the year 2000, the government changed this holiday to the second Monday of January so that people can have a 3-day weekend. Here are the Coming of Age Day pictures! Enjoy seeing Yukari in her beautiful pink kimono!

Whew, I just got finished posting those 3 items that are below this. Yukari spent so much time writing comments on all those pictures… nearly200 I believe! I have some more pictures I’m getting ready, and then tomorrow I’m gonna take some new pictures of Yukari in her pink kimono! It is her Seijinshiki (Coming of Age Celebration) tomorrow. You can come back tomorrow night to see the new pictures! See ya!
Back in June of 2005, Yukari’s house was torn down and they started building her new house! We took many pictures of them building it, and the final product. So here is Yukari’s Modern Japanese House pictures. It’s so nice isn’t it?
